8 Things to do before a trip!

things to do before a trip

Hey my lovelies =)

I wanted toย give you a short update on what is going on at the moment =)

I will be leaving for China THIS Sunday and am finally done with my packing. My list will get online tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜‰

I finally got my Laptop back and can relax a bit..at least mentally, because my To-Do List is huge.

But what should you all do a week before you leave for your journey besides starting to pack your luggage and print your flight tickets?

Here are the most important things toย do before any trip.

  1. Do you have a good travel insurance? – If you are just going for a couple of weeks you are usually covered by your normal health insurance, but I still would always check it. As I am leaving for several month I need a Special travel insurance. Prices can be anywhere between 20-70 Euros. If it is cheaper I would be careful and check what is actually covered.
  2. Health Issues – Get your medications and shots together well before your departure, you never know if your pharmacy has everything you want on the day you go.
  3. Check all your electronics and update everything before you leave. You never know if you can update your programs properly in other countries if now due to weak Internet Connections or Firewalls doesn’t matter.
  4. Buy things you know are either very expensive or not buyable at all in the country you go to. I for exampleย bought a pack of coffee, deodorant and shampoo. First I can’t live without, second is very hard to find a decent one, sprays basically do not even exist and last is incredibly expensive for curly hair.
  5. See your loved ones. Take the time and meet the important People again. First you never know what happens and second it gets your mind away from the travel for a couple of seconds and gives you a bit of a break ๐Ÿ˜‰
  6. Clean Up- Yeah everything, even Change your bedding. Nothing is more amazing than coming home to a clean and nice smelling place after a Long flight. This way you can drop straight into bed when you arrive or you are prepared for Family and friends dropping in for suprise visits.
  7. Check what happens with your letters. If you want your post being sent to another place while you are away, apply for it at least a week before, it always takes some time. Otherwise arrange somebody to empty your post box and check if everything is ok in your home on regular basis.
  8. Stop buying more food, empty out the fridge, what you do not eat and will go to waste during your travels bring either to friends or to any social organisation in your area who is in need for Food Donations.
This is what I am mostly up to at the Moment. Keeping busy and getting my things sorted, besides the shot I still have to get tomorrow I am through with this list=)
What is on your To-Do List before a journey? When do you start to prepare? Let us know =)
See you tomorrow ^^

Good list! This is everything I do, too! I also make sure I bring books to read on my Kindle and that my laptop is in tiptop shape!

Yeah I did the same this time..uploaded tons of books on my kindle and just got my laptop back in time from the repair =D

Very ressourceful list, I particularly agree with the “cleaning the house before leaving” haha
    Thanks Sabine

I’m always so busy packing to leave right before I go on a trip that I can’t imagine having time to clean up my home, too! Great tip, anyway. Currently preparing for a trip to France, and all of your ideas are good ones.

Yeah I mean all of us travellers have their own lists anyway right? ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I hope it just helps people who take trips for the first time to get over the giddyness of forgetting something =) And I usually never clean, just when I go away, simply because I love the feeling of coming home and being able to simply drop into my bed =D

Yeah it’s always a great feeling after packing! I definitely agree with all of these tips. Travel insurance is the number 1 priority.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Enjoy and have a safe trip! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you Criz, I hope so too and I so agree…without insurance you can get into real trouble =)

I love nos. 4 and 6. I’m a sucker when it comes to packing essentials before I travel. Yes, I always try to leave my bedroom and the whole house in general tidy before I travel especially when no one is staying behind.

Yep, that sounds about right. Although I NEVER find the time to clean my room and make the bed. But I kind of like walking back into the messiness. It confirms to me that no one was in there while I was gone ๐Ÿ˜›

Crystal that actually is a smart way of thinking ๐Ÿ˜€

Great list, although I usually leave my room in a terrible state after my last minute packing! It would be nice to come back to a fresh room, maybe next time I’ll do it!

Christine give it a try…I am also working right now on the last minute packing…I came so used to packing that I do not bother to start early, but then it still is always a bit of a rush and something is always missing-.- at least it was all cleaned up when I left this time ๐Ÿ˜€
