There is a weird thing happening to us when we travel.

When we stroll through streets, look into shops and talk to people. It is slowly creeping into our hearts and then it hits us full power.

Bumm, there are our passions.

The ones well hidden for years, hiding in the background just to come back and knock us to the ground.

How many of you actually take time to do what you love?

To do sports? To paint? To read poems? To go to the theater? To play an instrument?

How many of you forgot about the very essentials that make up who you are, like I did?

Since a long time I am finally rediscovering myself again, thanks to travelling!

Right here while I am writing this I have this urge to start paining and drawing, to take my stuff with me everywhere I go and to capture the world on paper. I didn’t have that urge for years…all thanks to the girl we met in the hostel who studied art and was drawing while we were enjoying the sun outside.

My sister went into a music shop and just came out all jumpy and wants to try playing the violin again and practise more guitar.

Will it hold on till we get back home? Who knows, but at least we do know now it is still in us.

Travel does something to you. While you are travelling it is just you and the road. Not many distractions, no having to worry about the daily things. Instead you see new stuff, meet new people, feel new things…

And this is what inspires us!

I didn’t realize how desperately I needed this journey. During two years of studying I forgot what made me up. I forgot that I am actually a crazy artist, who loves to be all over the place, who actually loves to be in the middle of action.

I was sidelining myself, pushing my very being to the edge.

This journey set me free.

And this time I will try to keep it!

Here is how: While I am travelling I will hopefully draw as much as possible and I will take the time to do so.

At home I will spent two hours each week, doing what I love. Read poems, draw, paint, craft, bake. Whatever it is, as long as it is creative.

But what if I will be starting to fall back into old habits???

That’s where you will come in. This is not my only blog. I have a second one, called nerdycrafts.com. If I aint posting at least once a week a new project, you are allowed to kick my a**.

Does that sound like a deal for you?

It’s weird that we have to move away from what we know, to rediscover who we are.

I am guessing even a day trip will help to refuel our batteries or maybe just meeting somebody new, stepping out of our usual circle of friends and hanging out with some stranger. Just to shake up our views on the world a bit and remember us on what is out there in the big, wide world for us.

So today I want you to remember your passions or to plan a trip to get you inspired again.

Just let yourself flow, take it relaxed, take time to feel the place you are visiting, to bond with people, don’t rush, just for the sake of seeing things. Breath in, breath out and live.

What are the things you forgot? Let them all come back to you, share them with us if it helps you.

Otherwise good luck with your journey (inner or outer) and may you never forget the things that make you to the person you are!!!
