It’s time for another Update of my Kungfu School Life!
I am still living in Maling Kung Fu Academy, so far all the same.
You eat, you train, you sleep 😉 Well not quite. I am sorry for not being very active with my Updates lately.
This is mostly because I am still struggling with my headaches. They did get better, but they are still there and really destroying the training for me.
Imagine no matter what you do, you end up with a major migraine after it, which lasts up to three days. So not fun! I even have been to the hospital, but the scans came back all clean. I know that is a great thing, but it also means I still don’t know what is causing them.
For that I am honestly looking forward to getting home over the winter and hopefully I can get that issue fixed before I come back in March.
Yeah I am being whiny and going home over Christmas.
I once had a winter in a Kungfu School and there is nooooo way that I will do that again any time soon. Because the winter always gets tough. The rooms usually have the same tempreture then the outside and heating is just one for 2 hours daily.
You get a heating blanket at least. (Not all Kungfu Schools offer/allow these). But still I hate it when I just can’t get warm anywhere. I know you will get warm when you train, but well you also will get sweaty, which will make you freeze even more. And don’t even get me started with the showers.
So in short I am just not strong enoug for the winter 😉
I am already hiding under my blankets. The tempretures dropped a lot over the last month and while my headaches are getting less, my freezing gets more 😉
I mean come on. It was so warm that we would start sweating when we lifted a Finger and now I am running around with jumpers and jackets. Is a bit of fall weather too much asked for?
Gosh I am looking forward to my cozy room at home in Germany and the yummy Christmas Dinner. Yes I am slightly homesick at the moment. That was also a reason for me not being very communicative lately.
So be prepared for a long post, we got some stuff to catch up on.
Some things have changed since my last Update of my Live in a Kungfu School Post.
Well not really changed, but a lot students left in August and early September. So now we are just 14 students. It got pretty quiet, but then it also got a lot more relaxed. Funny how the atmosphere of a place always depends on the people living there. Especially with a small school like this the energy level and a lot of other things depend on the people studying here. So it maybe got a tad more boring, but then there are some people here at the moment with whom you can have really great conversations.
I love that mix of cultures you will find in Kungfu Schools.
There are so many people from all over the world, that you are able to connect with really unique people. People that might challenge the way you are thinking or you can learn a lot from.
I also wanted to tell you that I will be writing at least once a month on the Students Blog of the School. I let you know whenever a new post goes live there. Right now I am simply giving that Blog a Makeover. Well and probably going to give my Blog a small Make-Over sometime soon….too much pink 😉
Ok enough Bla, let’s get back to the topic.
Besides the new students, my Master, Master Du, was on Holiday, which meant the Headmaster was jumping in now and then to do the classes and I am loved it.
He just has the best quotes: “You are like Noodles, all soft when you kick” or ” I haven’t trained in years and you are still softer than me” or how about ” You are like grown trees which get moved to a new place. Before your branches can grow you first need strong roots.”
Well and besides all of his amazing speeches he just tells you straight into the face when you are crap.
Why do I like that? Well I know that I am nowhere close to decent yet. I don’t want to hear you are good when I know I am not.
He tells me what’s wrong and how I can improve it. I’d be stupid not to listen to him.
It’s just this thing, when somebody is better than you, soak in all the critique you are getting and use it to become better.
Well and I guess the German in me really doesn’t mind bluntness at all. Better blunt and to the point, then flowery and useless.
I guess I am so used to being told of from my old school that it doesn’t quite bother me personally anymore. Next time you know what to do better and that’s all there is to it. Who cares now if it was fair or not that you were told of for something. Can’t change the past, it is what it is, move on =)
What more is new. Mhh it seems like we are starting again special training for an Event in November, which sounds super exciting. So I am really curious about the details. I will let you know when I know more. You know how China works, you will get all the important informations a couple of days before the set date xD They really like to leave stuff until last minute.
So as a goodbye…some more pictures and I will talk to you soon again =)
